Is this colour analysis quiz really free?
Yes. The questionnaire, the photo analysis, your season result with its confidence score and a starter palette are all free with no account and no email. The full report — the complete palette with hex codes, colours to avoid, makeup and hair shades, a capsule wardrobe plan and a palette card you save to your phone — is $19 if you want it.
What happens to my photo?
Nothing is uploaded. The analysis runs in your browser on your own device: a face-detection model — which we host ourselves rather than loading from Google — finds your face, measures your cheeks, forehead and irises, and cuts your face out of its background. The original photo is discarded straight after. A small cut-out of your face is kept in your browser’s session storage so your report can show it, and is erased when you close the tab. There is no upload endpoint on this site.
How accurate is an online colour analysis?
Honest answer: good, not perfect. We place 468 facial landmarks and sample only flat skin — cheeks, forehead, jaw — with hair, lips, eyes and background excluded, which is far better than averaging the middle of a photo. Depth and contrast then measure reliably, because lightness survives most lighting. Undertone is the hard one: your camera’s white balance shifts exactly the signal that matters, which is why the questionnaire spends four questions on vein colour, jewellery, sun reaction and the white-versus-cream test. Those are the same proxies a professional uses. We always show you the runner-up and the gap, rather than pretending to a certainty we do not have.
Can I see my face against each palette?
Yes, and it is free. Once your face is cut out of its background, we show it draped against all twelve palettes side by side — the same thing an analyst does with fabric under your chin, except for every season at once. Removing the background is what makes the comparison honest: against your original photo, whatever was behind you contaminates every drape.
How much does a professional colour analysis cost?
In-person seasonal colour analysis in the US typically runs $150–$500 for a one to two hour session with fabric drapes. That is the right choice if you want a trained eye and same-day drape testing. This site gives you the same framework and palette for free, and the full written report for $19.
Why does the quiz have so many questions?
Because undertone genuinely cannot be read off a phone photo. Each of the 18 questions feeds one of three axes — warm/cool, light/deep, bright/muted — and the ones that look repetitive are cross-checks on the axis that is hardest to measure. You see your profile build up as you go.
What if I buy the report and the season is wrong for me?
Then you get your money back. The full report has an unconditional 30-day refund — reply to your Stripe receipt and it is refunded, with no form to fill in and nothing to justify. "Not useful" is entirely your call, and it covers the season simply looking wrong to you. Colour analysis is a framework rather than a science with one right answer, and being between two neighbouring seasons is common, so the refund exists because the honest position is that the method is good and not perfect.
What is the difference between a colour season and a colour palette?
The season is the diagnosis; the palette is the prescription. Your season describes where your natural colouring sits on three axes, and the palette is the set of colours that harmonise with that position. Two people in the same season share a palette even if they look nothing alike.
